myZHdK App
How can students efficiently manage their daily lives in a complex academic environment? myZHdK addresses this challenge with a mobile solution that serves as a highly customizable information platform for students at ZHdK. Its modular design allows users to tailor the platform to their personal needs, providing all relevant information in one place and making it an indispensable companion throughout their studies.

Students at ZHdK
The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) offers nine degree programs, each with a variety of majors, including Design, Music, Film, Art, and Theater. To support students in their daily academic and creative pursuits, we designed a mobile application tailored to their unique needs. We began with extensive research, conducting user interviews and surveys to understand the specific requirements of ZHdK students. This research revealed the need for a flexible, modular system that allows students to customize a dashboard with tools and resources relevant to their studies.

Iteration Process
We started by developing wireframes to explore various layouts and configurations for a modular dashboard suited to a small smartphone screen. These wireframes were tested with students to gather feedback on their experiences and refine our approach. From these tests, we identified two key needs: an organized course overview and customizable links, as some departments require access to unique websites and specialized online resources. With this feedback, we moved into the design phase, creating multiple versions to explore potential looks.

Interactive Prototype
Using Figma, we developed an interactive prototype to make our concept tangible and user-friendly. This process taught us valuable lessons about designing components, optimizing for small screens, and gathering user input at multiple stages. While the app remains a concept, we gained significant insights that enriched our understanding of user-centered design and student needs. We hope this application can one day become a reality, but the project has already provided valuable learning experiences.
