Sensing Color

Sensing Color

Exhibition Design

Collaboration: Loïc Hommel & Lyvia Muniz Gomes Wägli

How can we bridge the gap in how individuals perceive light and color? To explore this challenge, Sensing Color introduces a new form of abstraction through an interactive, electronic glove. Equipped with a multispectral sensor operating in the visible and near-infrared spectrum, the glove translates color into tactile feedback. The sensor communicates via an Arduino-like microcontroller, which sends impulses to vibration motors embedded in the fingertips. Depending on the detected color spectrum, distinct vibration patterns are triggered, allowing users to literally feel color.
